blogger, blogging, blag!

I had to go to the post-office early...way too early for me so my first stop was Starbucks. At 10 am, there was an unusually long line both at the counter and drive thru. Turns out that the register was broken so everybody got free coffee for today! I had the urge to call everyone I know and spread the good news but I decided against it. it was enough that I got my free coffee and pastry.

can't stop blogging PR.

I read Tim Gunn's blog and he made some things clear on why Jeffrey was chosen over the more popular favorites Uli or Laura. It made sense and coming from Tim Gunn, I don't have any right to question his choice. he knows better so I concede! And hopefully, this will be it for me, too for PR season 3.

It took me a year before I could push myself to make the move. At least this time, I have the consent. Hopefully, all will be good and everyone benefits. The future's becoming bright, gotta have my shades.

You have got to be fu@king kidding me!

so Jeffrey won PR season 3. WTF! Whatever!

Dancing with the Stars

since Project Runway season 3 is coming to an end, I'm picking up a new blogging pet...the current Dancing with the Stars. It's not something that I regularly watch, in fact I have not seen the first season at all. Last season, I caught a glimpse of Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke (proud Pinoy!) and knew that they would win. But I was not enticed.

It was pure luck that I stumbled upon the season 3 opener a few weeks ago and I instantly fell in love with Emmitt Smith. Emmitt is "An NFL legend and three-time Super Bowl champion who holds the world's all-time leading rushing record and is considered one of the greatest football players to ever play the game" (http://abc.go.com/primetime/dancing/bios/3/emmitt_smith.html). You just can't help but love him. Mario Lopez, I think is a given. He knows how to dance and he'll probably win. But Emmitt have caught the hearts of a lot of viewers and will no doubt give Mario some hard-ass competition. Not to forget that Emmet's partner is Cheryl Burke, last season's winner. And they soooooo dance well together.

Here's Emmitt for your enjoyment.....

Project Runway spoiler...proceed at your own risk

photos courtesy of www.rickey.org/blog/2006

I've selected the best pieces (for me) of each finalist's collection for you guys to judge if my sentiments are unfounded. Do you see Michael's yellow(ish)-orange(y) dress on the background??? The color looked good on the model but the style?? Not my bet. Now look at Uli's. Nice, eh? Laura's yellow belt may be the stunner or the spoiler for that gown, depends on who's looking. And of course, how can I not include that controversial green dress which, according to Laura (or was it Michael?) should take at least a week to finish, hence the suspicion about subcontracting sewers. Additional info...Jeffrey had another dress to spare. Maybe he really did just leave his seat for 3 hours of sleep everyday. Maybe.

blogging project runway

Read Nick Verreos' (love of my life!) take on the Jeffrey controversy.

Surprise, surprise. Daniel Franco couldn't stay away.

Malan Breton (booted season 3 designer) shows at Bryant Park. Who can forget Malan's mischievous laugh!

Project Runway scandals

Ooooh! Major controversy!

This has got to be Project Runway's nastiest, most controversial seasonto date!

First keith got kicked out because he brought pattern(?) books which is a big no-no as stated in the contract. It was especially suspicious for him because he's not a woman's wear designer and yet he won the first challenge. He still denied this vehemently and in the latest PR reunion show, he maintains he did not use it and, get this, he claims that the books were deliberately returned to his room, like a sort of a set-up. Apparently, he surrendered the books previously. Another excuse, he supposedly was unaware of anything in the contract that these kinds of books were prohibited! Everyone else did but him. It's either he's playing dumb or he's just plain dumb because I'm not even on the show and I know. I mean there has to be restrictions, right? In Survivor, you can only bring one personal item, In Amazing Race, you can only use the money provided in the show (you can beg or borrow), yadda, yadda. There wouldn't be much sense to the competition if you can bring pattern books? There was also speculation circulating that the sketches he submitted to PR were photoshop sketches of other (famous) designers' collections. Nad there are pictures to show proof, too. Bad, bad boy!

Now, Mommy Laura has accused Jeffrey of subcontracting sewers as evidenced by
1. Jeffrey's runway collection have very minimal or no alterations needed,. In Laura's words, not one button left to sew. Which, for all those who have followed this season religiously, it's unlike Jeffrey. Plus he was finishing his showroom collection at the same time he was making his PR clothes. If Laura, Michael and Uli, who were wonderful sewers could not finish all the little details in time, how much more having to do two sets at a time?

2. The leather pants does not mirror Jeff's rockstar pants in one of the previous challenges. It was stitched to perfection, which as far as Laura is concerned, it was not the quality thatJeffrey is capable of. It was brought to Tim Gun's attention and it was investigated. Next week's preview includes Tim saying "sorry", the anguish on Jeff's face and him crying on Uli's shoulder. This can mean that he was vindicated and those are tears of joy, or his secret was found out and he's shamed himself for eternity. Ok, that last part was a tad bit exaggerated. But I know for sure he showed at Bryant Park so does that mean the accusations have no basis? We shall see.

Is it just me, or are Uli and Jeffrey exceptionally close? Uli seems to gravitate toward jeffrey the most and she defended Jeffrey from Laura's accusations. You can see a little bitch in her, no? Or it's probably just the German in her. You kind of see the same feistiness in Heidi, in fact. Is it possible that Jeffrey was right in claiming his bad-ass attitude was just a product of editing? He still made Angela's mom cry and that's inexcusable as far as I'm concerned. Maybe PR will release the unedited version, that should be interesting to see. Let's find out who's the real bitch!

I'm on a Hydrocodone high!

and I don't like it one bit!

My roommate had a few tablets of Vicodin from her previous oral surgery and since my back would not get enough relief from plain Ibuprofen, I decided it was time for the Vicodin. I took 1 pill, and now I wish I didn't.

It was the weirdest feeling. I felt my body relax but it wasn't the kind that was comforting nor comfortable, it was uneasy. I felt my head balloon and then came the dizzinness, the nausea and culminated with my head in the toilet bowl.

My head still feels like a damn bobblehead. And I swear, I'm never taking anything with Hydrocodone again. Well, at least if I can help it.

Part of why I left Ortho was because I was scared one day soon my back's going to give up. So I moved to Tele, and my back gave out anyway. I hurt my back while picking a patient about to code. It was probably adrenalin rush, I did not feel the pain right away. I did not feel any strain that would spark the urge to do an incident report. It started hurting after I got home and by morning I could not move without a grunt or a wince.

It was a case of a real bad muscle strain. So I went to employee health, got a bunch of Ibuprofen and did an incident report. It was less than 24 hours. I took a three day rest and by yesterday, I was off the pain meds and back to work. Today however, without any provocation my back started to hurt again. It wasn't the cramping, tight pain I was feeling previously but shooting pain on my right lower back. in a matter of minutes I was crying, it was excrutiating. So I went back to employee health only to be informed that they can't send me to the ER because my "claim" was denied because of late reporting. it was less than 24 hours I said. But there wasn't anything she can do, she said. That's policy. I was never even offered any pain medication, I was sent back up to my unit so I can go home.

I was appalled. I work in a hospital and I cannot even get care when I needed it. I devote more that 40 hours of my time week after week, sometimes coming in even when I wasn't feeling well, spending my holidays in patient care even if i don't get any extra pay for it (yes, walang holiday pay!). Talk about taking care of your employees. That's the big difference in the healthcare system between the Philippines and the US. I remeber presenting just my employee ID at Makati Med ER and I did not have to pay anything. I wasn't even a Makati Med employee.

Are all hospitals here in the US like that?

dilemma

Detective, cowgirl or Fanta Girl???

letter to my manager

Dear------

I did an incident report. I hurt my back last night when we got Mr. ---- back to bed. He was crashing. I went to employee health services and they gave me a bunch of Ibuprofen. Ha! Let's see it it works. At least my patient survived. :)

mikee

just another day......

I saw his face and it was as white as paper. I knew at once something was wrong. He tried to deny it as I thought he would but the distress in his face gave him away. I proceeded to check him out and his numbers were all out of whack, I had to do something. I need to do something right away or it will be too late. I made the call....."Angel, get in here!" Before I could mutter another word the team was there and everyone sprang into action. We were calm but we knew every single action could spell life or death. As Dayna and Chloe wheeled him towards the elevator, I was saying a silent prayer. Please God, let him live. It was a weird calm and chaotic when we got there. It did not take alot of time before things started settling down. I asked him again how he's feeling and he said "lousy" in that tone I remember so well. And I thought to myself "he's back".

Mr. S got himself a temporary pacemaker, and we saved yet another life. Thank you God.
