this I have to write

I was cruising through North Diversion Road when i saw a sign for an LPN course being offered to students who want to be able to "work in the states" after only 2 years. My reaction?? Shock, rage, and "what the hell?!?" I remeber I had concerns about this particular school previously because it was only a few feet away from a horse race track. I mean how do you keep the professionalism? The respect?

A few months ago, the University of the Incarnate Word (San Antonio, Texas) invited their students for its reaccreditation. The accreditors expressed their admiration for Philippine Nursing because they only hone BSN's which the US have been aspiring for so long and still working for it. This is the reason why nursing in the US is still regarded with less respect than other healthcare professions. The utimate goal is to professionalize nursing, eventually achieving all BSN by encouraging RN(ADN) to BSN programs. And then surprise, surprise, a 2 year LPN course in an already all BSN country! Let's take several leaps backward, shall we?

I just watched a story about the 7 CHED officials resigning because of the consistent decline of nursing quality in the Philippines. This is bad news. This is terrible news. What's happening? Even my alma mater enrolls several hundred students when it used to be really strict and picky. Only the best. And how many cum laude's again B? Did the students get really really bright, the school decided on a higher grade percentage for graduates to have more edge, or did the quality drop down a notch?
so what happened to mutual respect and sensitivity?????

Our "Angel" is all grown up

Soap Opera, anyone???

I have been subscribing to ABS-CBN now for several months now. I look into the news and current affairs( esp Pipol), the singing contests (Little Big Star) and syempre tsismis. The soap opera's??? Well, let's just say, they're at the bottom of my list and I have never gotten to them.....yet. That was before I went home for a vacation. Of course when I went home, both my mom and my mother-in-law were tuned to..guess...soaps! I got sucked into the last few days of Jewel in the Palace. Tell you the truth, I'd much rather watch Bubble Gang's version - Jowa in the Palace". However, "Bituing Wlang Ningning" held my interest. It could be because I got to watch it almost everyday, whatever. All I know is last night, I spent 3 hours watching current episodes culminating with Lavinia's (Angelika dela Cruz) famous line, that is "You're nothing but a second rate, trying hard, copycat!" Ha! Most surprising is that I got really excited and carried away, can't wait to see the next episode!

I don't remember half the cast, heck I don't really remeber the details of the movie anymore. I've actually mistaken the theme song for "Bukas Luluhod ang mga Tala". Not a Sharon fan, no?

By the way, Angelika's "new chin" made her look like Jessa Zaragosa. And Sarah's (Dorina)acting still needs to be honed. Zsa-Zsa's (Rosa Mia) voice, I realize now is really good even when she kept singing "Dito Ba" while singing in a despicable, cheap bar/lounge. Bagay di ba????

So it's saturday evening ang nothing interesting on TV. I might as well watch "U can Dance", a "Dancing with the Stars" copycat. Nene kept getting raves, I just don't see why. Maybe Alma was right (or was it Maribeth?), what we see on tv isn't the same as what they actually see in the studio. Yeah, whatever.

I can't believe I have to pay $30 for Pacquio's fight!
